Where's the best pizza near East 62nd Street?
It depends what you're in the mood for, so here are three places that cover the bases, all a short walk from our door at 341 East 62nd Street. One for a fast slice, one for Roman-style pizza sold by the slab, and one for a real sit-down pie. We order from these regularly, so this isn't a list scraped off a review site.
A quick note: the Upper East Side isn't the part of New York people think of for legendary pizza, and we won't pretend otherwise. But you don't need to trek to Brooklyn for a good pie. These hold up.
For a quick slice: Two Boots Upper East Side
Go here when you want a slice in your hand in five minutes. Two Boots does a thinner, slightly spicy cornmeal crust and a long list of named specialty slices, so it's a good call if you're tired of plain cheese. It's the easiest grab-and-go option near us, and it's open late enough to handle a post-night-out craving. Order a couple of different slices and split them.
For Roman-style by weight: My Pie Pizzeria Romana
My Pie, at 690 Lexington Avenue near East 57th Street, does pizza al taglio, which is the Roman style baked in long trays and sold by weight. You point at what looks good, they cut a rectangle, weigh it, and reheat it. The crust is airier and chewier than a New York slice, and the toppings change through the day. It's a short walk down Lexington and worth it if you've never had the by-the-weight style. Good for grabbing a few different squares to bring back to your apartment and eat at your own table.
For a sit-down pie: Patsy's Pizzeria
When you want to actually sit down with a whole pie and a glass of wine, Patsy's is the move. It's an old New York name doing thin-crust coal-oven pizza, and the Upper East Side location is an easy walk from us. Get a whole pie for the table rather than slices. This is the one to choose for a relaxed dinner rather than a fast refuel.

If you're staying with us and want pizza delivered, the Upper East Side has deep delivery coverage on the usual apps, and all three of these turn up on them. But for the Roman squares at My Pie especially, we'd go pick it up. It travels better warm and fresh out of the oven than it does after twenty minutes in a delivery bag.
