What's the Closest Subway to The Sixty Two? The F and Q at Lexington Av/63rd St
The closest station: Lexington Av/63rd St (F, Q)
Head west on 62nd toward Lexington, then it's one block up to 63rd. The entrance is at Lexington Avenue and 63rd Street, roughly a 5-minute walk. The F runs down the east side of Manhattan and over to Queens; the Q takes you across to Midtown, Times Square area, and up Second Avenue to the Upper East Side stops at 72nd, 86th, and 96th. This is the one I use most.
The numbered lines: 4, 5, 6 under Lexington
The green lines run right under Lexington Avenue, a couple of avenues west of us. The 6 (local) stops at 59th St and at 68th St/Hunter College, both under a 10-minute walk. The 4 and 5 (express) stop at 59th St and 86th St. Use the 6 for short hops up and down the East Side; use the 4/5 when you want to move faster and cover distance.
The transfer hub: Lexington Av/59th St
About an 8-minute walk south, Lexington Av/59th St ties together the N, R, W and the 4, 5, 6. It's the one to know when you're heading to Brooklyn or need to swap lines without going all the way to Midtown. It also connects underground toward the F at Lexington Av/63rd St.
Getting a MetroCard or using OMNY
Every station takes OMNY, so you can just tap a contactless card or your phone at the turnstile. No need to buy a MetroCard unless you want one. The fare is a flat per-ride charge no matter how far you go, and OMNY caps your spending after a set number of taps in a week so a heavy travel week won't run up.
